Default Grandma's Jam Cake

1 (2 layer size) spice cake mix
1 1/3 c. milk
3 eggs
1 (18 oz.) jar seedless blackberry or strawberry jam
1 c. chopped pecans
1 c. raisins

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour 3 (9") round cake pans. Combine mix, milk, eggs and jam. Beat two minutes at medium speed on an electric mixer. Dredge nuts and raisins with flour. Fold in batter. Bake 35 to 40 minutes.
Frost with caramel frosting. Sprinkle finely chopped nuts on top.


Melt 1/2 cup butter. Add 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar and cook over low heat 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Add 1/4 cup milk and continue to cook and stir until mixture comes to a boil. Remove from heat (cool). Add sifted powdered sugar, about 1 3/4 to 2 cups, gradually until of the right consistency to spread
