Question Baking and Decorating- UK vs USA ???

Hello!

I am from the UK (London) and I will be travelling to the Colorado, USA next March to bake and decorate my friend's wedding cake for her!

I have never been to the USA before, and will hopefully be bringing most of the dry ingredients with me. However, I wanted to know whether there are any major differences between baking in the different countries?

I will be baking both sponge and chocolate cakes and decorating them with sugar paste / rolled fondant. I have been told altitude may play a role, but this is unlikely as I shouldn't be too high up!

Any information will be helpful, as I don't know anything!

Thanks!

I don't know of any major differences at all. I haven't heard about altitude as an issue. I hope your trip is wonderful and that the cake turns out well!

Where in Colorado? Altitude definately makes a difference in baking. Plan on making some practice cakes before doing the entire cake.

Altitude definately makes a difference in baking. There are slight modifications you can make to baking recipes for high elevations. Check it out on the internet. I'm sure there is informations somewhere.
Again is will depend on where in Colorado. Most of Colorado is higher elevation, after all there are Rocky Mountains running through it.
